Dear Rugby Community,

10 days ago we announced the difficult decision to cancel the 2023 Stone & Wood Invitational Byron Bay 7s Festival. The feedback and support from the rugby community has been overwhelming, and we are truly humbled and grateful.

In response, both NSW Rugby Union, through its Positive Rugby Foundation and Rugby For Good partnership, and Rugby Australia have reached out to us to offer their support to ensure the event is back on the calendar in 2023.

In short, the Stone & Wood Byron Bay Sevens Festival is back on as originally planned on 14-15 October 2023.

A huge thanks to NSW Rugby Union, NSW Positive Rugby Foundation and Rugby Australia for their support. As a result, we believe it will be the best event we’ve staged to date, with an even better experience for teams on and off the field.

We’ll share more details in due course but we wanted to announce this exciting news as soon as possible in the hope that you can join us. To register your team, complete the form at

Once again, a massive thank you to everyone that has expressed their support or reached out to us to offer help.

About NSW Positive Rugby Foundation

Through its ‘Rugby For Good’ program, NSW Positive Rugby Foundation aims to move the needle for grassroots rugby communities as the official Charity and Social Impact program for NSW Rugby. Rugby For Good uses Rugby as the vehicle to impact people’s lives and support the growth of Rugby, often in places where rugby does not have a strong presence.

In 2022 we invested $850,000 into Rugby For Good programs. To find out more about the impact we had in 2022 check out our 2022 Impact Report or check out some of our short videos
