Tournament Manual

For Team Coaches & Managers

Welcome

On behalf of the Byron Shire Rebels Rugby Club, welcome.  Like the seasonal whale migration, it’s great to welcome the Rugby Community back to Byron Bay.

The Byron Shire Rebels acknowledge the Traditional Owners of this land, the Arakwal people, the Minjungbal people and the Widjabul Wia-Bal people of the Bundjalung Nation, and we pay our respects to Elders past and present.

The 34th Annual Byron Bay Rugby 7s Festival includes some small changes. The Men’s Supa Social comp will be kicking off on the Friday evening before a Saturday full of Senior Women’s and Men’s rugby, culminating in the finals played under lights on Saturday Night. Sunday games continue with Junior U16 and U14 Girls and Boys Competitions.

Special thanks to all our Volunteers, Referees and Sponsors, without whom there would be not a Byron Bay 7s. Also, thanks to NSW Rugby who have supported the tournament in recent years.

Please take the time to review the information below on player registration, fields layout, competition draws and tournament rules, and maybe share with your teammates.

Cheer Up, Slow Down, Chill Out and Enjoy your Rugby!

Player Registration

Your players can (and should) register with your team at any time via Rugby Xplorer (up to 14 players per senior team and 12 per junior team). There is no cost involved for the player because the team has paid the festival entry fee. By registering with your team the player will be covered by the rugby insurance that is included in the team entry fee. It’s a very simple process: on the Rugby Xplorer app the player should go to ‘Register’, ‘Rugby Events – Find a Team’, then search for your team name and follow the prompts.

Game Day Team “Check In”

A representative (Team Manager) is required to “check in” half an hour before your team’s first game kicks off. This is to ensure that the team registered on Rugby Xplorer is the team playing and to provide any tournament updates. The check-in station is located at the desk in front, or upstairs, of the club house (Stone & Wood Bar)

Competition Draws and Scores

The playing draw for the Festival is provided below. It will be maintained live on the Festival website. Any changes to the draw plus the match scores and details of the finals will be added as they become available, so please monitor the website. The same information will also be available at the team check-in station.

Some parts of Byron Bay have paid or time-restricted parking. The relevant information is available here:  https://www.byron.nsw.gov.au/Residential-Services/Parking-Streets/Where-can-I-Park
